A devastating single-vehicle rollover crash in Weld County has claimed a fourth life after 20-year-old Roman Parra of Wyoming succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning, authorities confirmed.
According to the Weld County Coroner’s Office, Parra died at a local hospital after being airlifted from the scene in critical condition following the violent crash Saturday evening. His death comes less than a day after three other young men were pronounced dead at the scene, turning what was already a heartbreaking tragedy into an even greater loss for multiple communities.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:18 p.m. on Weld County Road 80, east of Ault. Investigators with the Colorado State Patrol said a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The SUV veered off the roadway before rolling several times across the area.
The force of the crash was so severe that all five occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
Three passengers—a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old from Eaton, along with a 19-year-old from Greeley—were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Parra, who was identified as the driver and was from Wyoming, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, where he later died despite the efforts of medical personnel.
A fifth occupant, a 19-year-old man from Eaton, survived the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. His condition has not been publicly updated.
The victims were all young men whose lives were cut tragically short, leaving families, friends, classmates, and their communities mourning an unimaginable loss. Three of those killed were recent graduates of Eaton High School, prompting an outpouring of grief throughout the school district and surrounding communities.
