A 26-year-old motorcyclist has died following a three-vehicle collision on State Route 39 at County Road 77 in Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The victim has been identified as Marcus Miller, of Sugarcreek, whose death has left family members, friends, and the local community mourning the tragic loss of a young man whose life was cut short.
According to the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:37 a.m. on August 2.
Investigators said Miller was traveling westbound on State Route 39 while operating a 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle when he collided with the side of a 2016 Mazda driven by Martha Egan, who was attempting to make a left turn onto County Road 77.
Following the initial impact, the motorcycle slid left of the center line and struck the left front of a 2023 Nissan driven by Tiffany Ervin, 49, of Coshocton, authorities said.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, where they found Miller with fatal injuries. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Miller was wearing both a helmet and protective riding gear at the time of the crash.
No other injuries were reported. Both drivers of the involved passenger vehicles were unharmed.
The response to the fatal collision involved multiple agencies, including the Sugarcreek Police Department, Sugarcreek Fire Department, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Rosenberry Towing, and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, all of whom assisted at the scene as investigators documented evidence and cleared the roadway.
The crash temporarily disrupted traffic along State Route 39 while emergency crews conducted their investigation and removed the damaged vehicles. Motorists were advised to avoid the area until the scene was cleared and the highway reopened.
Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. As part of the investigation, authorities are reviewing physical evidence from the crash scene, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and witness statements to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.
