Roman Parra, a 20-year-old from Wyoming, has died from injuries sustained in a devastating single-vehicle rollover crash in Weld County, becoming the fourth person to lose their life in the tragedy that has deeply impacted communities in both Colorado and Wyoming.
According to the Weld County Coroner’s Office, Parra died early Sunday morning at a local hospital after being airlifted from the crash scene in critical condition. His death follows the loss of three other young men who were pronounced dead at the scene Saturday evening.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:18 p.m. on Weld County Road 80, east of Ault. According to the Colorado State Patrol, a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Investigators said the SUV left the roadway, rolled several times, and ejected all five occupants.
Three passengers—a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old from Eaton, along with a 19-year-old from Greeley—were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are expected to be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office following notification of their families.
Parra, who was driving the vehicle and was a graduate of Worland High School in Wyoming, was flown to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical teams, he later succumbed to those injuries.
A fifth occupant, a 19-year-old from Eaton, survived the crash and was transported to a local hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Eaton community, where three of the victims were recent graduates of Eaton High School, as well as in Worland, Wyoming, where family, friends, and former classmates are mourning Roman Parra’s passing.
As tributes continue to emerge, loved ones have remembered the young men for their friendships, ambitions, and the bright futures that were tragically cut short. Schools, teammates, and community members have expressed their condolences to the families affected by the devastating crash.
Emergency responders, including Colorado State Patrol troopers, firefighters, and paramedics, remained at the scene for several hours as they secured the area, documented evidence, and investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Investigators continue to examine what caused the Chevrolet Tahoe to leave the roadway. Authorities are reviewing physical evidence from the crash scene, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and other factors as they work to reconstruct the events leading up to the rollover. At this stage, the investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not announced whether additional contributing factors played a role.
The deaths of Roman Parra and the three other young men have left an immeasurable void in the lives of their families, friends, classmates, and communities. As those who knew them come together to grieve, they are remembering four young lives marked by friendship, promise, and the lasting impact each made on those around them.
